Hum Paanch was centered on a middle-class couple with five daughters. All five had distinct personalities of their own and each episode basically showed the girls trying to sort out various problems or issues. The genre was comedy and the sitcom had high popularity ratings. Vidya Balan played the role of the second daughter. She was called Radhika and portrayed a geeky, awkward but intelligent girl.
